Toronto, ON – Baker Tilly Toronto is pleased to welcome partner Birju Shah to its International Tax team. A Chartered Professional Accountant with more than 15 years of experience advising private and publicly traded entities, Shah will assist clients both in Canada and around the world with international tax, general tax compliance and advisory engagements, as well as matters involving tax disputes.

Shah will advise Canadian and foreign enterprises on a wide variety of tax matters, including domestic and cross-border corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, IP migrations, entity rationalizations, cash repatriation planning, debt restructuring and ongoing operational transactions. He has a history of advising clients in a number of other areas, including structuring of Canadian operations of a foreign entity, tax-efficient capitalization and tax-optimal reorganizations. Given his background as an educator – who has taught tax in the CPA’s In-depth Tax program and at the university level – he is also well positioned to provide support to colleagues and clients alike.

“We are excited to welcome Birju to our team and look forward to drawing on his wealth of valuable experience,” explains managing partner John Sinclair. “His work with clients in a broad range of industries – including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, consumer business, technology and private equity – will give us added capacity in the area of international tax, helping our firm continue to grow, foster talent and create new opportunities. He will also work closely with our Baker Tilly colleagues around the globe to develop international tax plans for clients.”
