Baker Tilly Toronto announces partnership with SickKids Foundation
Toronto, ON – Baker Tilly Toronto proudly announces a five-year partnership with SickKids Foundation that will contribute funding and employee engagement opportunities in support of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Canada’s most research-intensive medical facility and the country’s largest centre dedicated to improving children's health.
“Baker Tilly is thrilled to partner with SickKids Foundation and support its groundbreaking work with children across Canada,” says Paul Websdale, managing partner at Baker Tilly Toronto. “This is an important cause that touches all of us. Children are our future.”
Baker Tilly Toronto operates under Baker Tilly Canada, which has member firms from coast to coast and is one of the country’s largest associations of chartered professional accounting firms. For Baker Tilly Toronto, supporting a charity that is community-driven was an easy choice. “The member firms in our network work in and support communities across the country,” Websdale explains. “SickKids is supporting children in these communities and helping build healthy families. This is something we all feel connected to.”
Baker Tilly’s gift will allow SickKids the flexibility to address the highest priority needs of the hospital in areas such as cutting-edge research, essential equipment and supports that help patients and families through their toughest challenges.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Baker Tilly for their commitment to supporting SickKids Foundation over the next five years,” says Julie Garcia Sjogrim, vice-president of corporate & community partnerships at SickKids Foundation. “With this support, we are one step closer to achieving our ambitious goal to heal the future through Precision Child Health.”
Precision Child Health is a movement at SickKids that aims to understand each child’s health by integrating all the information they share about themselves – from their genetic code to their postal code – to provide individualized care that attends to their unique characteristics. Its ultimate goal is to diagnose faster, treat smarter and predict better.
Prior to this partnership, Baker Tilly Toronto was contributing to more than 40 charities without a structured giving plan, but the firm wanted to do more. This strategic partnership aligns with the organization’s three pillars of success: mission, vision and values.
“This partnership is Baker Tilly Toronto’s opportunity to connect our people to another worthy community cause and to our firm,” Websdale says. “By fostering that sense of connection, we are helping people do meaningful work in the community, while promoting a sense of belonging.”
