The Pas, MB – Baker Tilly HMA is pleased to announce CPA Manitoba has selected partner Dion Bird to become a Fellow, one of the greatest distinctions in the accounting profession. Designated by the initials FCPA, the title of Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants formally recognizes those who have rendered exceptional services and brought honour to the profession.
The FCPA designation recognizes excellence in three areas: professional career, volunteer involvement in the affairs of the accounting profession and volunteer contribution to professional, community or charitable organizations. In order to qualify, all nominees must make an outstanding contribution in at least one of these areas or a remarkable contribution in more than one area.
In his professional career, Bird has a wealth of experience in assurance, taxation and accounting software consulting. He successfully leads a number of BT HMA’s most prominent engagements for not-for-profit organizations, local governments, First Nation communities and for-profit businesses. He also serves as advisor to a number of physicians and other medical professionals both incorporated and unincorporated. Bird is the CPA Western School of Business training principal for Baker Tilly HMA and has mentored a number of students.
Over the years, Bird has served on CPA Manitoba’s Board of Directors and as Audit Committee chair, as a member-at-large in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba Council, as a member of University College of the North’s Faculty of Business Advisory Committee and also acted as treasurer of The Pas Rotary Club and coached in The Pas Minor Hockey Association.
“This is a well-deserved acknowledgement of the value Dion delivers to his clients, colleagues and the accounting profession as a whole,” says Brent Morrish, primary assurance partner at Baker Tilly HMA. “Through his tireless hard work and commitment, Dion demonstrates the leadership and exceptional performance the FCPA designation represents.”
Bird and his fellow recipients are slated to be recognized at the CPA Manitoba Member Recognition Gala at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on Oct. 7.
