Our response to COVID-19

Hello Everyone,

As our daily lives continue to change hour to hour and as each of us tries to understand how our lives have changed and the lives of all those around us, we at Baker Tilly wanted to reach out.

The Canadian Government has now restricted our international borders to limit the impact of COVID-19, and many us of have already experienced the new world around us, long lines at stores, some stores and restaurants closed completely and empty shelves and streets.

Some of you may be worried about the services that you have come to rely on us for and how the recent restrictions may affect how we will continue to provide those services to you. Please do not worry. We take the pandemic very seriously and are doing everything we can to protect our staff and our clients while still ensuring that we can continue to offer you the service you expect from us.

It won't be 100% business as usual. But you can count on us. Our teams are still hard at work, they are just doing it from their own home for the most part. We have spent a lot of time and resources upgrading our technical backbone in the past year, and now it is time to use it to it’s full potential.

Our number one priority currently is to keep all our staff and clients safe and healthy. This means limiting the number of staff and clients at our office.

We are also encouraging all our clients to have phone calls or video calls with us instead of meeting face to face and to send us any documents via email in PDF form or courier them to us instead of coming to our office. We want to keep you safe as well, and this is the best way to continue to practice “social distancing”. If you are not comfortable with those methods, please give us a call and we can work together to find the best solution to keep you safe and healthy while still offering you the best service.

With the 2019 tax season upon us, we are happy to report that the deadline has been postponed to June 1 for Revenue Quebec and we are waiting for the decision from the federal government at this time. We have organized our teams in such a way that they will still be able to work at 100% capacity remotely for however long is necessary.

All of us will face uncertainty and new challenges over the coming days. Our services may not be perfect over the next few weeks but, we will do everything in our power to make sure you have what you need.

As we have more updates, we will continue to communicate with you. In the meantime, we ask that you continue to follow the guidelines that have been set in motion by our governments and health agencies for our protection and ask that you remain calm and patient during this trying time.

Lastly, if you have any concerns about your business and how Covid-19 is or will affect it in the near future please reach out to us, we may have a solution for you or at the very least we will be able to point you in the right direction.
