Biography

Shelley started her career at a “Big 4” firm in Calgary before moving to Red Deer in 1989. She ran her own practice for several years before joining Collins Barrow Red Deer. She later joined Baker Tilly Rockies LLP in 2018 as principal, where they established an office in Innisfail to provide U.S. and international tax services. 

Her career is focused on cross-border and international tax issues primarily related to the U.S. She advises Canadian companies on setting up offshore business along with compliance work for U.S. citizens in Canada or Canadian citizens investing in the U.S. or leaving Canada to live abroad. 

Shelley obtained both her Canadian and U.S. Chartered Accountant designations after completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Calgary. Shelley’s expertise was furthered by her completion of the In-Depth Tax Program in Canada and the AICPA International Tax Certificate in the U.S.  

When not diligently serving her clients, Shelley enjoys a quite life on an acreage with her husband and spending time with her family any chance she can.
