Biography
Catherine graduated from the University of Waterloo with her Honours Bachelor of Mathematics as well as her Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting in 2001. She obtained her CA designation in 2003. Previously a Principal at the firm, Catherine joined the partnership in February, 2014.
Catherine has practiced public accounting in Ottawa since 1998, specializing in providing audit and assurance services to small and medium for-profit and not-for-profit entities. Her experience includes the planning, supervision, preparation and review of audit and accounting engagements as well as the associated corporate tax filing requirements for a wide variety of clients including hi-tech companies, manufacturing companies, retail companies, real estate companies and not-for-profit organizations.
Catherine enjoys working closely with her clients to ensure that financial statements are prepared in according with Canadian generally accepted accounting principles as well as ensuring that corporate tax minimization/deferral is achieved. She also aims to provide clients with recommendations to improve their internal control policies and procedures. For her not-for-profit clients, Catherine meets with Audit Committees and Boards of Directors before the audit to discuss the results. She also attends annual general meetings to present the financial statements.
