Your role
- Lead a team of accounting technicians in the completion of client work.
- Oversee bookkeeping and payroll processes for multiple engagements at once.
- Coordinate client engagement scheduling and manage staff capacity.
- Supervise and manage the completion of department tasks to meet deadlines.
- Manage, mentor, train and develop junior and senior staff.
- Review the work of your direct team, ensuring accuracy and completeness of work.
- Manage client engagements in a team environment and ensure consistent communication with other departments.
- Provide complex bookkeeping assistance to clients, internally and externally.
- Utilize strong time management skills to meet deadlines, deliver quality work, anticipate and resolve client issues in a timely manner.
- Lead the onboarding of new client engagements and the transition of existing clients to cloud-based technologies.
- Work with digital team to create innovative solutions for clients.
- Manage project financials, including budgets, WIP, and billing analyses.
- Assist in developing and implementing bookkeeping policies and processes to ensure optimal efficiency, accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain regular contact with clients and taxation authorities (CRA) to complete all routine formalities from an accounting perspective.
- Actively participate in departmental recruitment and employee onboarding.
What you bring to the table
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Commerce.
- CPA designation is an asset.
- 7+ years of accounting and/or bookkeeping experience. Experience in a public accounting environment is an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years in a progressive management experience.
- Proven leadership skills in a collaborative environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and client service skills.
- A passion for learning and developing self and team members to the next level.
- Mastery of QuickBooks Online, and other applications that support an integrated cloud-based accounting environment.
- Excellent project management skills including the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Take ownership of assigned client work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team.

Where you’ll work:
Courtice, ON. This role will require travel to the Peterborough and Lindsay offices, with mileage reimbursed for the interoffice travel.
