Your role
- Execution and completion of complex tax returns
- Review of a wide range of personal tax returns and simple corporate tax returns
- Manage tax activities in connection with non-tax (i.e., accounting/audit) files
- Work with Tax Partners and other senior tax staff to:
- develop and implement tax planning services including research of tax issues and preparation of memoranda, and
- perform special tax engagements
- Collaborate with peers and senior management on file planning and completion within time constraints
- Preparation and presentation of technical sessions to firm staff
- Provide personal, attentive service to clients to encourage productive working relationships and identify client service opportunities
What you bring to the table
- Successful completion of the Common Final Evaluation (CFE), at a minimum holding a status of CPA-in-waiting
- Intention to enroll and complete the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course and/or Master of Taxation Course
- 3 – 5 years of accounting experience, tax experience considered an asset
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
- Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, project management and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills and creativity to identify problems and potential solutions
- Professional manner, strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to provide value-added service to clients and strong understanding of a client-focused fast paced work environment including related deadlines. Ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
