Your role 

  • Compilation and review of client information and working paper file preparation
  • Year-end planning for various clients
  • Supervising engagements and related tax filings within a paperless office environment
  • Completion of assurance engagements with teams of 1 – 4 team members
  • Identification of KPIs through technology
  • Identifying and resolving engagement issues
  • Training and mentoring junior staff on engagements
  • Preparation of Notice to Reader and Review Engagement reports
  • Preparation of personal tax returns
  • Ensuring the clients’ satisfaction with the firm’s services
  • Providing timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations
  • Identifying and cultivating new service or tax planning opportunities for client

What you bring to the table  

  • A college or university degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public accounting or a similar finance role
  • CPA designation or in progress would be considered a strong asset
  • Experience managing large engagements
  • Tech savvy; proven technical skills in accounting
  • In-depth working knowledge of accounting and tax
  • Sound working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Advanced accounting, tax, and software knowledge, i.e.: Tax Prep, CaseWare, Sage and QuickBooks
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Highly analytical and accurate, attention to detail is critical to this role

  • Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively and efficiently
  • A passion for client service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to continually expand one’s professional skill set, learn on the job, take on additional responsibilities as required and respond to and thrive in a dynamic work environment
  • Candidates must be flexible to work overtime during peak business periods – any overtime worked will be paid or recorded as in-lieu time to be taken at a later date

Where you’ll work:  

Owen Sound, ON (Hybrid)

Candidates must be available to travel during the week to the Owen Sound, Ontario office located at 945 3rd Avenue East for critical meetings as required.

Job type:  

Permanent, Full-time

Your schedule:  

Monday to Friday 

Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000  

(with flexibility based on the level of experience)
