Your role:

The People & Culture Consultant provides end-to-end people advisory and payroll expertise to client organizations, delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll while supporting core HR programs. Working closely with key stakeholders, the role resolves payroll and employee-related issues, streamline processes and systems, and provides guidance across the employee lifecycle including recruitment and onboarding, performance management, compensation and benefits, and general HR administration. The role also supports policy development and communication, training and development initiatives, employee engagement activities, and workforce reporting, while staying current on employment standards and payroll legislation to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and client-specific policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with tax legislation and employment standards.
  • Partner with client stakeholders to gather and validate payroll inputs, resolve discrepancies, and improve payroll workflows, controls, and documentation.
  • Support clients with compensation changes and benefits administration, including enrollments, deductions, changes, employee communications, and vendor reporting.
  • Support full cycle HR consulting projects including recruitment, policy development, benefits review and implementation.
  • Assist with training and development needs assessments and support the design and delivery of learning resources for managers and employees.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS/payroll system data; prepare workforce reports and dashboards (e.g., headcount, turnover, leaves, and compliance metrics).
  • Lead year end payroll activities (e.g., T4s, ROEs, reconciliations, government filings) and support payroll/HR audits as required.

What you bring to the table:

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Payroll Systems – Proficiency in platforms like QuickBooks, Wage Point, ADP, Ceridian, Workday, or Pay works.
  • Excel – Strong skills in formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; quick to learn new software and systems.
  • HRIS & ERP Tools – Familiarity with integrated HR and finance systems.
  • Tax & Compliance – Knowledge of payroll legislation, remittances, and reporting.
  • Benefits Administration – Experience managing deductions, enrollments, and provider coordination.
  • Reporting – Ability to generate payroll reports and year-end documentation (e.g., T4s, ROEs).
  • Data Security – Understanding of privacy standards and secure data handling.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years payroll and benefits experience
  • 3+ years of experience as HR advisor or HR generalist
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, Payroll and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Experience with HR and payroll software and systems (e.g. BambooHR, Wagepoint, Quickbooks).
  • PCP and/or CPHR certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Experience in handling a variety of employee payroll & benefits issues
  • Experience in handling a variety of employee relations issues and full cycle HR.
  • Experience in an industry-specific environment (e.g., accounting, healthcare, retail, technology) may be beneficial.
