We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer to join our team—a role where your expertise will drive meaningful outcomes and your ambition will help shape what comes next. This role blends advanced analytics with hands-on data preparation, reporting, and automation responsibilities. The Senior Data Analyst will lead the design of dashboards and reporting workflows, ensure data quality, and drive insights for internal and client-facing initiatives. As a team leader, this role will mentor Data Analyst(s) and help build a high-performing analytics function.

Your role:

  • Ensure we operate in accordance with our Partnership Agreement, our Code of Conduct, and the professional standards set by the CPA and other governing bodies. 

  • Plan and lead the annual Partner’s Retreat. Assist us to define, steward and complete on time all initiatives developed at the retreat and through the year.  

  • Maintain our commitment to being a diverse workplace where respect and collaboration produce enhanced results.  

  • Establish, report on, and consistently drive financial performance measures to support the firm’s short and long-term goals. 

  • Build our annual consolidated financial plan, including the operating plan, working capital requirement, and capital/other investments. Continually look for ways to improve our profitability. 

  • Report an accurate picture of our monthly and YOY financial results. Share the positive indicators and the continuous improvement focal points. 

  • Optimize our performance & results by continuously looking for ways to enhance the efficiency of our work processes, the effective utilization of our software tools, our hard assets, and our people. 

  • Our goal is to integrate our service delivery across all 5 offices to consistently produce profitable results for our valued clients, on time, within budget and to all required specifications.

  • Use analysis & tracking tools to optimize client work allocation based on staff competencies and available capacity for staff file completions and manager reviews.

  • Oversee our technology systems and providers. Assess new ways of deploying technology tools to improve workflow and service delivery. 

  • Simplify & standardize our operation & administration workflows and templates to reduce the time & cost to complete our clients work and collect fees.

  • Define our capacity and capability needs to meet business needs and peak periods. Fulfill these needs in a timely and cost-effective manner. Report monthly on our development, turnover/retention, and recruitment results, with insights.

  • Develop and manage a robust work allocation process to continually balance client work with workforce competencies & available capacity during the year. 

  • Ensure people with the right skills, motivation and commitment are in the right role at the right time. Consider Partner, manager & staff retirements and career aspirations, and expertise needed to meet client needs & business growth. Proactively plan recruitment & training.

  • Develop & oversee a new hire orientation (NHO) plan for hiring managers. The goal is to welcome, retain and develop new hires, so they achieve optimum performance.

  • Develop & oversee our annual people development plan and report annually to the Partners on our costs and results (the ROI). 

  • Define training content for management/leadership development & specialist skills, identify & contract trainers. Leverage internal subject matter experts (SMEs). Manage logistics & costs.

  • Administer the CPA accreditation program. Develop the course plan, appropriate timing & maintain student results for each staff member. Maintain & prepare documents for CPA audit.  

  • Stay current on CPA & legislative changes that impact what work we do and how we do it. Deliver education sessions to those impacted. Cross-check changes in our internal business processes and information system tools. Keep us current, consistent and in compliance.    

  • Develop & regularly review with the executive the plan for replacing Partners and managers/staff when they retire. Recognize any individual who is a single point of failure SME and develop others to reduce the business risk. 

  • Maintain Our Daily Performance Management System & Annual Performance Reviews – Look for ways to improve our existing performance management/feedback system. Monitor and report on annual results with an action plan for performance improvement.  

  • Assist Partners & managers to immediately address a performance management issue.

  • Develop the file feedback format & process for Partners, managers & staff to provide timely compliments & feedback for development or improvement. 

  • Continually research and keep current our workforce total cash compensation & benefits plans. Provide an annual report on the costs and benefits and suggested continuous improvement options and the ROI.

  • Ensure it continues to be contemporary and consistent with the profile of our workforce’s needs and what they value. Ensure it is applied fairly and consistently – no favoritism. 

  • Review & maintain HR policies, contracts, agreements, procedures, and forms. Apply policies in a firm, fair & consistent manner. Ensure we remain compliant with current legislation.

  • Assess all we do today and redefine our marketing plan with specific goals & a budget and tell us the anticipated ROI. 

  • Develop and execute a survey for all clients on specific key metrics. Analyze & report on the results. Meet with select clients to understand what we do well & why a client leaves.

What you bring to the table:

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business or Finance with current knowledge of public accounting practice rules, regulations, and the industry changes coming.

  • An MBA and/or CPA designation is valued in this role for the diversity of knowledge it brings.  

  • A minimum of 10 years’ practical and relevant business and operational experiences at large companies in roles with increasing responsibility. 

  • Practical business/operations knowledge/experience in professional services is valuable.

  • Current & practical knowledge & willing user in a variety of business specific software systems.  

  • Curious about evolving AI and ways to adapt our business service offerings and delivery. 

  • Business-oriented with financial/operational acumen. Results centered. 

  • Well-developed analytical troubleshooting skills when problem solving and decision-making. 

  • Assertive and resilient collaboration to align people around a shared purpose and decisions.

Will be communicated at a later stage in the hiring process. Total annual compensation will match your experience & proven results. Includes a competitive base salary & an annual bonus based on performance & business results.
