Your role
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
- Maintain general ledgers and reconcile accounts
- Post journal entries and update client accounting software
- Calculate fixed assets, depreciation, and prepare payroll cheques
- Handle bookkeeping and payroll (staff/client), bank deposits, A/P, and client payments
- Prepare T1s, T4s, GST, and other compliance returns
- Maintain financial records and bookkeeping files
- Generate statistical and accounting reports
- Respond to payroll inquiries (phone/in-person)
- Perform clerical tasks as needed
- Collaborate with peers and management on file planning and deadlines
- Provide attentive, personalized client service
What you bring to the table
The successful candidate will have:
- at least 2 years’ experience in full cycle bookkeeping procedures
- payroll designation & experience considered an asset.
- 2 years’ experience in Bookkeeping
- 2 years’ experience in Personal tax preparation is mandatory.
- 2 years’ experience in QuickBooks Online is required.
- Tech Stack experience including integration of apps is considered an asset.
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office, and QuickBooks online are required.
- experience in preparation of Notice to Reader statements would be an asset.
- experience in the management of multiple government contracts and knowledge of Provincial and Federal financial reporting requirements would be an asset.
- an understanding of the Provincial and Federal bidding systems.
- excellent computer skills and willingness to upgrade such skills, as required
In addition to these, the ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
- Strong time management and workflow planning
- Effective oral and written communication
- Proficient in Windows XP, Excel, Word; strong analytical and math skills
- Knowledge of CRA regulations, labor standards, WCB, and GST
- Excellent interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with FOIP and handling confidential information
- Proven problem-solving abilities
Technical Skills:
- Experience with CaseWare, iFirm, Practice Engine and Karbon are considered an asset.
