Ontario CPA firms unite in Accounting for Bravery

Apr 22, 2020

Waterloo, ON – In battling COVID-19, Ontario’s frontline healthcare workers are enduring one of the most grueling challenges of their lives. As a show of gratitude and support for these brave, dedicated professionals, CPAs from across the province have agreed to contribute their professional expertise at no expense to help these healthcare heroes prepare their 2019 taxes.

The Accounting for Bravery program is available to nurses, paramedics, lab technicians, doctors, cleaners and other healthcare staff who are supporting the COVID-19 efforts in hospitals and long-term care facilities, but do not have an existing business relationship with a CPA.

“By offering our services in this way, we hope to give healthcare workers some relief during this difficult time,” said Kenneth Tammadge, managing partner at Baker Tilly Ottawa. “This initiative was conceived as a heartfelt thank you for their courage and commitment healthcare workers have demonstrated since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis. As they confront one the most daunting challenges of our time, we are happy to provide professional advice and relief from the burden of filing their taxes.”

In order to reach as many frontline workers as possible, this program will cover basic individual, spousal and dependent children’s tax returns, not more complex returns. To ensure all returns are ready in time for the June 1 filing deadline, applications will be accepted until May 15. If you are eligible, you can begin the application process by completing CPA Ontario’s online pre-qualification form.
