Dartmouth, NS – Collins Barrow Nova Scotia Inc.’s John Oakey has been selected for — and now sits on — the Small and Medium Practitioner (SMP) Tax Committee for CPA Canada. Informally involved with the committee throughout 2016, John attended his first official meeting on December 15, 2016.
“The SMP Tax Committee acts as a knowledge resource to enable CPA Canada to respond to the needs of the CPAs who are small and medium-sized tax practitioners or work for such firms,” John explained. “This committee considers existing and proposed government activities in the area of income and commodity taxation.”
As part of his involvement with this committee, John will also be participating in a sub-committee that addresses new legislative changes proposed by the Department of Finance regarding small business deductions.
