Vancouver, B.C. – Baker Tilly Corporate Finance (“Baker Tilly CF”) is pleased to announce its client DataCore Mail Management Ltd. (“DataCore”) was recently acquired by 3CO Legacy Solutions Inc. (“3CO”). In this transaction, Baker Tilly CF served as the exclusive financial advisor to DataCore and its shareholders.
Established nearly 40 years ago, DataCore is a B.C.‑based direct mail advertising company. Beginning with just four employees, DataCore has steadily evolved and embarked on a bold new chapter more than a decade ago when the company was purchased by its three most senior managers, including Karly Black, current DataCore president. This ownership move reinvigorated DataCore, leading to several notable milestones, including earning the highly coveted designation of Expert Partner from Canada Post for its Smartmail Marketing program.
A B.C.-based investment holding company, 3CO has been investing in lower middle market companies since 2020, when it made its first acquisition of B.C.‑based Northwest Plastics Ltd. Owned and led by managing director Enrico Guld, 3CO primarily invests in manufacturing businesses, optimizing its portfolio companies by capitalizing on operational improvement, strategic guidance and pursuing growth opportunities.
“I am excited for the future of DataCore,” says Black. “After many years of consistent growth, I continue to see opportunities for the company to serve more customers who seek data‑driven, direct mail advertising expertise.” Sharing this sentiment, Guld notes, “I am extremely excited to be working with Karly Black and the team at DataCore. [The company] is poised to take on new challenges and grow.”
In serving as the exclusive advisor to DataCore, Baker Tilly CF helped ensure a seamless transaction process. “We are proud to have played an instrumental role in the acquisition of DataCore by 3CO,” says Kevin Shaw, president and managing director of Baker Tilly CF. “As an advisory firm, our focus is on small- to mid‑market enterprises just like DataCore. Often, such clients are inadequately served by larger investment banking firms, yet still require and deserve sophisticated and experienced professional support, which is precisely what we provided for DataCore.”
