Using data analytics to generate “Found Money for Business Owners” was the subject of a recent presentation to the Halifax Executives Association by Collins Barrow Nova Scotia Inc. assurance partner Jamie Welsh, CA, and the firm’s new data analytics specialist Jonathan Nichols.
Data analytics provides cost-recovery opportunities that range from identifying unclaimed GST/HST input tax credits and duplicate payments, by conducting purchasing and payroll reviews through business cycles, to uncovering a veritable “hit list” of anomalies in a matter of hours through the power of scoping and scripting. The initial scoping takes about an hour of client time and three to four of Jonathan’s time.
