Courtice, ON – With much admiration and gratitude, Baker Tilly KDN announces the retirement of highly respected tax partner, Tom Hill. Although he is retiring from the partnership, he will remain an integral part of the firm’s tax practice, providing his expertise as an associate in a part-time capacity.
Hill’s passion for the profession was contagious, and he enriched everyone around him throughout his illustrious career. Specializing in personal, corporate and estate taxation, Hill worked closely with clients on complex business transactions, providing buy and sell support, as well as assisting with succession planning. He was also a business leader in the community, often leading presentations on a variety of tax topics, writing for local publications and providing commentary on federal and provincial budgets. But what set Hill apart was his pure passion for the profession.
“Back in the late nineties we had the opportunity to help a client sell their business to Microsoft. It was one of the coolest transactions that I’ve worked on in my career. I will never forget Tom, at the end of that day, doing fist pumps as we walked to the car, exclaiming ‘Now that was a great day!’” recounts partner Ian Bergin. “That moment showed me who Tom really was, and he carried that energy and enthusiasm for client success throughout his career. I have worked with many tax professionals, and Tom is one of finest. We wish him the very best in this next chapter.
