Five in five with: Hayko Kalktik

Hayko Kalktik Apr 21, 2021

What’s your background?

I have spent 14 years working in banks in various roles, honing my skills, which I apply as a financial planner. My interest in investments has led me to achieve multiple certificates and designations, broadening my understanding of the challenges clients face.

What keeps you busy outside the office?

I devote much of my extra time to my wife and daughter. We are always looking for fun new experiences for our daughter. As a hobby, I play bass in a cover band, which keeps me feeling young.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

My proudest professional accomplishment was my successful transition from associate for an investment advisor to starting my own practice. I felt confident that I had already learned everything I needed to be successful in the next chapter of my career.

What advice would you give someone starting a career in your field?

Surround yourself with people who understand the path you are on, will help mentor you and will direct you to new challenges that will help you grow in your career. Never get complacent in your role. Looking to evolve is part of finding what you truly want to do with your career. If you can accomplish this, it won’t feel like work.

What are the qualities that make Baker Tilly Windsor unique?

We have a large team of experts who offer a wide range of services under one roof. While everyone has a different focus, they are united in their pursuit of the client’s best interests. Collaboration thrives in this environment.

How would you describe your contribution to Baker Tilly Windsor?

Financial planning is a new offering at Baker Tilly, and I have been actively educating our team on what we do, why we’re different and how we can collaborate to help our clients.

If you weren’t in your current job, what profession would you pursue?

If I wasn’t a financial planner, I would undoubtedly be a Formula One driver by day and a professional musician by night.

What does “Now, for tomorrow” (Baker Tilly’s mantra) mean to you?

This mantra is very much in sync with my line of work. By definition, a financial plan is a roadmap created today to help achieve financial goals in the future.

What does the future hold for you and your profession?

I’m optimistic about our future at Baker Tilly. As financial planners, we offer an unmatched range of services, and we are constantly looking for new ways to integrate technology to increase our impact, while building deeper bonds with clients.
