Biography
Shawn began his career in public practice in 1989 at a regional firm in Southwestern Ontario, subsequently moving to a national firm in New Brunswick. Shawn’s expertise in assurance and accounting has helped guide a wide range of clients, including Inuit, municipal and not‑for‑profit organizations, as well as private business. Additionally, he has an extensive background in personal, corporate and trust taxation.
In 2000, Shawn relocated to Iqaluit, Nunavut, becoming managing partner of Baker Tilly Arctic’s predecessor firm in 2005. His specialty is assurance and advisory services tailored to Inuit organizations, municipalities, not‑for‑profit organizations and territorial government bodies. With his entrepreneurial nature and comprehensive background, he supports all facets of business, either directly or through his network of resources.
A strong believer in giving back to the community, Shawn has been involved with his church and as a volunteer board member with numerous organizations. In 2012, the Iqaluit Rotary Club presented Shawn with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for his contributions to the community.
