Rob Miedema TEP

Biography
Rob Miedema has been a partner at Baker Tilly Nova Scotia since August 2021 and leads the legal practice at Harbinger Law, specializing in corporate, tax and charity law, as well as estate planning. He has been peer-rated and recognized as one of “The Best Lawyers in Canada” in tax law (2016-2025), trusts and estates (2017-2025), corporate law (2018-2025) and mergers and acquisitions (2020-2025). Earlier in his career, he was also peer-rated and recognized with a L’Expert Rising Star Award as one of “Canada’s Leading Lawyers Under 40” (2014).
After teaching graduate courses for two years in Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Management (2008-2009), Rob became a sessional instructor at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, teaching nine courses in business association law and one course in environmental law (2010-2019).
Rob is the editor of Nova Scotia Companies Act & Commentary (2023) and two prior editions, published by LexisNexis Canada. He writes and lectures frequently about various topics within his practice areas.
Rob is a graduate of Queen's University and the Dalhousie University Law School. He was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2006 and the Law Society of Newfoundland & Labrador in 2023. Rob practiced in a leading regional law firm for more than 15 years and held a senior leadership position there before joining Baker Tilly Nova Scotia and Harbinger Law to explore new ideas about the delivery of legal services.
