Jay Anstey CPA CA

Biography

Jay’s first contact with the firm was as recipient of a scholarship for outstanding achievement in Accounting when he graduated from Collingwood Collegiate Institute. He joined the firm as a university co-op student in 2005. Jay graduated from Brock University in 2009 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2010. He was admitted to Partnership in 2016.

Jay’s expertise is providing accounting and assurance services to municipalities and rate-regulated hydro electricity distributors. He also has extensive experience with a wide array of non-profit organizations such as private golf and ski clubs, recreation centers, social housing and daycares, as well as for-profit resorts, manufacturing and retail businesses.

Jay also maintains a portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients, overseeing preparation of tax returns and providing tax planning advice.

Internally Jay has been a member of the firm’s Information Technology Committee and remains up to date on emerging technologies for businesses and accounting. Jay fulfills the human resource function in the Collingwood office and subscribes to HR periodicals to stay updated on current issues. Jay also mentors CPA students currently completing the requirements to obtain their designation.

Jay is a member of the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach and a founding member and past president of the Rotaract Club of South Georgian Bay. He is also a member of the Simcoe County District School Board External Audit Committee. He stays active as a member of the Blue Mountain Weightlifting Club, Collingwood Mens’ Hockey League, Wasaga Beach Softball and Volleyball Leagues.
