Biography

Charles is a seasoned, bilingual science and technology professional with more than 2 decades of experience leading SR&ED initiatives across Canada.

His career in R&D began in 2000 with a major Canadian forest-products and chemical manufacturer, where he transformed the company’s SR&ED program into the most successful in the sector and collaborated with CRA to help define eligibility interpretation at an industrial scale. In 2007, he transitioned into SR&ED consulting, taking on senior leadership and advisory roles before joining Baker Tilly in 2022. He continues to advise on SR&ED policy development and contributes to national best practices across multiple industries.

Based in Northern Ontario, Charles specializes in natural resource sectors—including mining, forest products, oil and gas, agriculture, and fisheries—while also maintaining strong involvement in medical research, geosciences, and advanced manufacturing. He brings deep technical insight, extensive field experience, and a proven track record of helping organizations successfully identify, document, and defend complex SR&ED activities.

An avid outdoor and sporting enthusiast, Charles enjoys spending time with his family and can often be found on the golf course or at the hockey rink.
