Your role 

  • Lead and manage the tax department, including supervising, training, and mentoring tax staff.
  • Provide expert tax advice and planning services to clients, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, and other entities.
  • Conduct tax research and stay current on changes in tax legislation.
  • Develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities for clients.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing their tax-related concerns and queries.
  • Participate in business development activities, including networking and client meetings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and related documents.

What you bring to the table  

  • CPA designation with In-Depth Tax Certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on Canadian tax laws.
  • Experience delivering a full range of services including reviews, compilations, tax advisory, along with technical expertise with T1s, T2s, T3s, T4s, T5s, tax assessments and reorgs.
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
