Waterloo, ON – Baker Tilly Canada is pleased to announce Rock Lapalme is joining the network’s National Tax team as associate director. In his new role, Lapalme will work to improve and grow services to further support the network’s member firms.
With his deep technical expertise, Lapalme’s experience teaching tax material will be particularly valuable to the National Tax group. He has assisted his peers as a facilitator for CPA Canada’s In‑Depth Tax Course, where he gives back to the profession by training and mentoring Canada’s future tax specialists.
In his new role, he will build on this experience to provide professional development, tax publications, marketing resources and professional practice tools for Baker Tilly tax experts, as part of the mandate of the growing National Tax Services. Led by director John Oakey, this group was formed in 2019 to address the increased demand for specialized tax services in response to the rapid growth of entrepreneurship and technology, as well as the increasing complexity of the Canadian and international tax systems.
“As National Tax Services continues to grow, we’re excited to bring Rock aboard to heighten our capacity to help our network navigate evolving tax policies,” explains Oakey. “His technical knowledge and teaching experience will be assets as we pursue more initiatives for member firms, empowering them to provide customized tax services of the highest quality.”
As a partner in Baker Tilly SNT’s income tax practice, Lapalme has been recognized for his strong work ethic and specialization in providing practical and creative solutions to high‑net‑worth individuals, professionals and owner‑managed businesses in a variety of industries. He has worked closely with their legal and investment advisors to ensure their tax, succession and estate planning needs are met.
