Since 2012, our network has ambitiously expanded, thanks to knockout firm recruitment and growth strategies. In 2019, we rebranded from Collins Barrow to Baker Tilly Canada, embracing a shared identity with fellow Baker Tilly International member firms in 147 territories worldwide. Still fiercely independent, today, we continue to seek out and attract innovative, entrepreneurial firms ready to take their business to the next level, expanding their capabilities and creating new, added value for their clients.

A look back

Gaining momentum with the addition of Baker Tilly Durham LLP (formerly Collins Barrow Durham) in late 2012, our network was poised for further growth. In 2013, we rolled out our “Punch” campaign, which invited leading regional firms to “punch above their weight class.” Since then, we have successfully recruited new member firms in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and British Columbia.

Representing the network’s long-anticipated return to the Prairies, we recruited Collins Barrow HMA (now Baker Tilly HMA LLP and the largest professional accounting firm in Northern Manitoba) and Collins Barrow PQ (now Baker Tilly SK LLP) to join the network in late 2013.

With locations in Winnipeg and The Pas, Baker Tilly HMA LLP was the first Manitoba firm to extend service to both the northern and southern regions of the province.

Based out of Saskatoon and Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Baker Tilly SK LLP has been providing service throughout Western Canada since 1920. With a strong community track record of success, the firm continues to uphold its tradition of excellence by adding to its arsenal of specialty services.

In 2014, the network continued its growth trend with the addition of firms in Victoria, British Columbia and the Southern Georgian Bay region in Ontario.

The former Collins Barrow Victoria Ltd., now Baker Tilly Victoria, joined the network in May 2014 with offices in Victoria and the Westshore area of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Baker Tilly SGB LLP, formerly Collins Barrow SGB LLP, brought coverage to the Southern Georgian Bay region with office locations in Collingwood, Meaford, Owen Sound and Walkerton.

In 2018, the network expanded West, with the merger of the former Collins Barrow Vancouver, Wolrige Mahon and CW Group. Together, they form a single, powerhouse audit, tax and specialty services firm, with offices situated in Vancouver and Toronto. Now one of British Columbia’s largest independently owned and operated firms, Baker Tilly WM LLP serves as a key pillar in the Western-Canadian mid-market.

According to Ken Tammadge, chair of Baker Tilly Canada’s Firm Recruitment Initiative, the growth strategy shows no signs of letting up.
