At Baker Tilly, we care about the impact you make. That’s why we’re invested in your growth from day one — because the steps you take today define your tomorrow.

We are looking for a motivated Data & Automation Co-op Student to join Baker Tilly National for a four-month summer term. You will work on hands-on projects that directly influence how people across our firm use data, automation, and AI in their day-to-day work. This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem, contribute to the development of internal Copilot agents, and build dashboards and automations that deliver real value to professionals across Canada.

This role is fully remote and open to post-secondary students across Canada who are returning to full-time studies following the co-op term.

Baker Tilly is a leading advisory and accounting firm dedicated to building better futures. With global reach and local roots, we combine the scale of a network with the trust of strong relationships. From audit and tax to consulting and specialist advisory services, we help clients navigate complexity and seize opportunity with clarity.

“There is no limit to the growth opportunities at Baker Tilly. We pride ourselves on promoting talent when we see it, and work with each professional to define what success means for them.”

Your role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that surface insights from firm and practice data.
  • Build and maintain data models and DAX measures that support analytics across the firm.
  • Develop automations using Power Automate to streamline manual workflows and reduce administrative burden.
  • Contribute to the development of low-code applications using Power Apps.
  • Support the design and build of Microsoft Copilot Studio agents to assist internal users.
  • Write SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple source systems.
  • Document solutions, data sources, and business logic to support long-term maintainability and knowledge transfer.
  • Collaborate with members of the Transformation team and stakeholders across the firm to gather requirements and iterate on solutions.

What you bring to the table:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Returning to full-time studies following the co-op term.
  • Demonstrated experience with Power BI, including building dashboards, data modeling, and writing DAX measures.
  • Experience with Power Automate and/or Power Apps through coursework, personal projects, or prior work terms.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Exposure to Microsoft Copilot Studio or other generative AI tools.
  • Familiarity with the broader Microsoft 365 and Azure ecosystem (SharePoint, Dataverse, Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric).
  • Experience with Python, R, or other scripting languages.
  • Understanding of data governance, privacy, and information security principles.
  • Previous co-op or internship experience in a professional services or similar environment.

What’s in it for you?

  • Real-world experience building solutions that are deployed and used across a national professional services firm.
  • Mentorship from experienced members of the Transformation team.
  • Exposure to how data, automation, and AI are reshaping the accounting and advisory industry.
  • A portfolio of tangible work products — dashboards, automations, and Copilot agents — to showcase to future employers.
