Collins Barrow has uncovered one of Toronto's best kept secrets and has executed an agreement that will see DMCT LLP joining Collins Barrow and representing the firm in Canada's premier market, Toronto, Ontario.

Collins Barrow, a national association of independent public accounting firms, is the 8th largest public accounting organization in Canada as ranked by The Bottom Line.  Collins Barrow is a member of Praxity, the 8th largest alliance of independent accounting firms in the world.

With DMCT in its network, Collins Barrow returns to the largest market in Canada. DMCT is one of the fastest growing accounting firms in the Toronto area with specific expertise in the fields of audit, tax, and transaction advisory services.

"We have worked hard, over the past six months, to re-establish Collins Barrow's presence in Canada's largest market.  DMCT emerged as the strongest candidate among the many we met and were interested in representing us in Toronto," said Lionel Goldman, Chairman of the Board of Collins Barrow.

DMCT senior partner, Harry Blum, stated "By joining Collins Barrow, we retain our independence and autonomy while being able to take advantage of the collective size and reach that Collins Barrow provides."  He added that "Maintaining control over our own destiny but at the same time being able to take advantage of the benefits that national integrated partnerships have is truly a win-win scenario.  Add to that the ability to offer a seamless client service approach on regional, national and international matters and the business proposition of Collins Barrow becomes far too compelling to ignore."

Goldman noted that the recruiting process on both sides of the table moved swiftly after everyone involved agreed that uniting the two organizations allowed each to obtain easily many objectives that otherwise would have been more difficult without the other.

"DMCT is one of the most trusted and respected mid-market firms in Toronto serving private company, private equity and the public company sectors.  We are fortunate that the timing was perfect for both organizations," stated Todd MacDonald, National Practice Development Director for Collins Barrow.

Blum added, "What we were planning was taking our existing national and international affiliation and converting it to a model that mirrored Collins Barrow's approach.  When we met with Collins Barrow we observed that, for the most part, they had already built the platform and it aligned perfectly with our needs.

"It made no sense to our partners that we would invest time in the process of converting our existing affiliation, when here sitting in front of us was exactly what we were looking for already developed, proven and established."

Over the next few months, DMCT will be adopting Collins Barrow's best practices.  Most significantly, DMCT will be adopting the Collins Barrow banner and will carry on business as Collins Barrow Toronto LLP.
