Biography

Bryan is a Senior Tax Manager in the Baker Tilly Nova Scotia’s Canadian tax practice. Bryan has experience with corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, trust and estate planning, and business succession planning. In addition, Bryan assists clients with their tax compliance needs. Bryan has completed CPA In-depth Tax course. He is a tutorial leader for various levels of the CPA In-depth Tax Program and has done presentations for CPA Nova Scotia as well as a variety of local and regional business organizations. Bryan also sits on the CPA NS Registration Committee.

Fair Market Value on CRA appraisals are inclusive of GST/HST for builder‑landlords

A recently obtained Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) internal communiqué ⁠–⁠ dated May 17, 2023 – states “effective the date of this communiqué, CRA appraisers will report Fair Market Value (FMV) as inclusive of GST/HST.” This is good news for builders, reducing appeals and objections resulting from disputes with the CRA on FMV as it relates to self‑supply of residential complexes.
