In the Spotlight with Joe Primerano
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Joe Primerano, born and raised in Vancouver. I am married with two teenaged kids. We love to travel and are ultra-competitive, especially when it comes to sports. I have been a partner since 2007, focusing mainly on owner-managed businesses.
Has there been anything positive you have witnessed/seen from the recent crisis?
The biggest positive I have noticed is that the majority of people are going out of their way to be more kind and positive to others.
How do you think Baker Tilly WM will need to adapt to the new world following COVID-19?
We have already started to adapt. We were ahead of the curve and were able to have our entire staff working from home immediately when the pandemic started. The biggest thing that we need to continue to work on will be communication, with each other and with clients. That has changed and will continue to change.
If you were not an accountant, what would you have liked to be and why?
A sports broadcaster, mainly because I love sports.
What advice would you give to someone starting their career in accounting?
Take the time to learn as opposed to just “do”. The more you learn, the better equipped you will be to handle whatever comes at you.
