Baker Tilly Ottawa LLP is looking for an experienced, motivated, and client driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Staff Accountant. We are seeking a candidate to assist us in providing excellent client service and working collaboratively with us to achieve our objective of becoming our clients’ trusted business advisor. Working for Baker Tilly gives you the opportunity to work closely with partners and managers, while also being apart of a team with our dedicated staff. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Completing Notice to Reader engagements, corporate and personal income tax returns and general accounting tasks.
  • Providing value-added services to our small to medium size clients.
  • Identifying and resolving engagement issues.
  • Ensuring that deadlines and related time budgets are met.
  • Developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships with clients, co-workers and all levels of staff and management.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Two years of experience in an accounting role.
  • University or College Accounting Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge.
  • Computer skills including Caseware and Taxprep.
  • Strong understanding of a client-focused environment including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines.
  • Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
