Baker Tilly has over 60 staff members and three locations in the greater Victoria area - Uptown, Sidney and Westshore. This position is based from Sidney. 

Compensation package:

  • Salary: $80,000 - $110,000
  • Paid overtime
  • Four weeks’ annual vacation

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Accounting:

  • Preparation and review of Notice to Reader, Review, and Audit Engagements
  • Preparation and review of T2 (corporate), T1 (personal), T3 (trust) tax returns as well as T4/T5 summaries and slips
  • Preparation and review of Compilation Engagement Reports
  • Preparation and review of corporate and personal US tax returns
  • Assisting partners with tax planning and compliances
  • Other accounting, tax, and administrative duties, as required

Management:

  • Work as a crucial link between partners and junior staff
  • Manage staff, providing regular guidance and coaching to develop their knowledge
  • Provide regular feedback to staff to ensure performance metrics and targets are being met
  • Delegate work/ ensure files are progressing
  • Compile feedback on staff performance throughout the year and conduct annual performance reviews
  • Enhance and develop community relationships and networks
  • Identify client service opportunities
  • Participate in special engagements

A successful candidate will have:

  • Canadian CPA designation (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public practice accounting and tax
  • US CPA or EA considered an asset
  • Prior management experience considered an asset
  • Cross- border tax experience considered an asset
  • Great organization and communication skills
  • Ability to excel in high pressure working environment
  • Can do attitude with the desire and ability to take on new tasks
  • Experience working in a team-based environment
  • The desire to grow your career in a mid-size public accounting firm

Proficiency and/or experience with:

  • Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
  • Caseware
  • TaxPrep
  • CCH Axcess
