Winnipeg: Contract Auditor

Baker Tilly HMA LLP is seeking an experienced auditor to fill an immediate contract term running from June to September or possibly October 2020, depending on the individual.

The successful individual will work under the supervision of our Partners and will utilize our support staff and audit methodology.  Hours of work for this position are flexible and some travel to client sites may be required, depending on COVID-19 travel restrictions.  There may be opportunities for an extended term as well as for similar engagements in 2021 and subsequent years.

Our client base is exceptionally diverse and includes local owner-managed businesses, not-for-profit organizations, governments, professionals and individuals.  We have industry experience in Aboriginal services, automotive dealerships, medical professionals, legal professionals, insurance brokerages, not-for-profits, hospitality and tourism, construction and others.

Our growing Winnipeg office is a modern, newly renovated facility, situated in the vibrant downtown Sports Hospitality and Entertainment District.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Under the supervision of Partners:

  • Lead the planning, conduct and completion of audit engagements
  • Supervise and direct junior staff
  • Identify client service opportunities
  • Communicate directly with clients

A successful candidate will have:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation preferred
  • Previous public accounting experience with an assurance focus
  • A solid foundation of accounting and assurance education
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with individuals at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting
  • Experience with Caseware, Profile, Sage 300 (ACCPAC), Sage 50 (Simply Accounting) and QuickBooks is valued
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly MS Excel
